The Floriana local council has asked the Prime Minister to consider transforming Boffa Hospital into a complex for the elderly.

The government announced last month that it will be transferring Boffa Hospital's oncology department to Zammit Clapp Hospital in St Julians. Mayor Publio Agius said in a statement that the council was getting suggestions from the public on possible alternative uses for the hospital.

The council, he said, had agreed it should be used as a complex for the elderly living close by.
