I happened to watch part of the carnival activities being broadcast live on our national TV station PBS last Tuesday. I could not help watching many of the participants dancing with beer bottles in their hands and I switched channel. Even on the King Carnival float, commissioned by the Carnival Organising Committee, there were young people happily showing their alcohol in their hands. Such behaviour should never be tolerated by the organisers. Do we ever see such behaviour in carnivals abroad? Or have we become a nation that to have some fun we have to consume alcohol?
