The Malta Environment and Planning Authority determined 734 applications in February and received 554 new applications. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 4,219.

Last month, Mepa processed 44 notifications of development, which do not require a formal application. It issued 71 stop and enforcement notices, 49 in Malta and 22 in Gozo. It also settled 36 enforcement cases, 23 in Malta and 13 in Gozo.

Twenty- three enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit. Another 10 cases were resolved when the owners decided to remove the illegal development and comply with an enforcement notice. Mepa withdrew three cases.

The Complaints Office received 19 cases that were resolved without the need of enforcement action, since the owners complied with instructions given by Mepa enforcement officers.

During the same month Mepa carried out seven direct actions.
