A woman was yesterday charged with assaulting a police sergeant at the Sliema police station when she got "agitated" because her two children were going to be taken under a care order.

Magistrate Abigail Lofaro heard Nadia Rapinett, 29, of Gzira plead not guilty to trying to seriously injure PS Paul Buhagiar, slightly injuring him and causing damage to the police station on Wednesday.

She was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.

Police Inspector Daniel Zammit prosecuted.

Lawyer Franco Debono appeared for Ms Rapinett.
