There was a strong touch of Malta in the Denmark Grand Prix which was played recently in Odense.

Three Maltese players, Massimo Cremona, Joseph Mifsud and Hansel Mallia, made it all the way to the semi-finals with the first two going on to book a place in the final, won by Cremona 2-1.

It was the first time in a tournament organised by world body FISTF that two Maltese players had achieved that feat.

Cremona scored early against Mifsud who fought back to level six minutes from the end. There was little time left but Cremona, who eliminated Mallia in the previous round 2-0, still managed to score a last-gasp winner to claim the title.

In all, there were 58 players taking part hailing mostly from Denmark, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Austria, the UK and Greece.

Besides the competition for singles, the organisers also held a team tournament on Day Two of the Denmark GP.

Mifsud and Mallia, who play for Belgium's Hennuyer, had to contend with a losing finalists' medal after their team was edged out on goal difference by Devils, of Austria, after a 1-1 draw.
