Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has pulled out of tomorrow's Florence friendly against Germany due to a thigh injury, the Italian Football Federation said yesterday.

No replacement will be called up for the combative 28-year-old Milan player, who suffered the injury during a 2-0 win over Serie A rivals Palermo at the weekend.

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi is expected to start in Gattuso's place. Italy coach Marcello Lippi is already missing first-team regulars Francesco Totti and Gianluca Zambrotta.
