Children should be taught self-defence

It appears the we Maltese are blessed with a tempestuous temperament that occasionally explodes in an almost murderous vein. Violent reactions by people involved in car accidents have become a common occurrence, even leading to serious injury on occasion.

A few days ago I had the most frightening experience when a person I was talking to suddenly became violent and I thank my lucky stars that I am quite svelte and managed to evade the aggressive physical landslide that seemed so vigorously bent on sending me to my creator.

I believe and recommend most strongly therefore that action is necessary and that from an early age our children in school are taught the basic elements of self-defence as the mournful truth is that these thugs are on the increase. I lament the fact that I never had the necessary training to defend myself when the necessity arose.
