Maltese sprinter Charlene Attard set a national indoor record in the 60m dash when clocking 7.77 seconds in the semi-finals of an EAA Junior Permit meeting, held in Moscow yesterday.

Attard's time eclipsed the previous mark of 7.96 seconds recorded by Therese Mallia during last year's European Indoors Championships in Madrid.

Contesting the 60m 'B' final, Attard eventually finished in 7.82 seconds to place sixth overall.

Attard is currently doing a training camp in Moscow in preparation for the World Indoor Championships, to be staged in the Russian capital between March 10 and 12.

Accompanying Attard in Russia is coach Xandru Grech.
