I Was Surprised to learn that a 'large' bus shelter is going to be erected in front of the LOVE monument.

Ever since the monument was erected some three years ago we have been requesting the local council (and writing letters to the press) for the bus shelter, which was removed from Spinola Bay to make way for the LOVE monument, to be placed on the spot of the present bus stop, i.e. in front of the St Julian's Band Club.

The Malta Transport Authority's official Daniela Borg Mizzi said that works on this particular bus shelter will start once the existing pavement is extended. I would have thought that when the road was upgraded last year, that would have been the ideal time to install a bus shelter. I hope that we do not have to wait another three years for this bus shelter.

Commuters headed for Sliema and Valletta are certainly much more numerous that those going to upper St Julian's and beyond. I fail to understand the point of having a 'large' bus shelter in front of the LOVE monument - unless it is also intended for people who are waiting in the rain and sun at the bus stop opposite the band club so they can all go down and use the 'large' bus shelter and then make a run for it when buses going to Valletta arrive!
