Mayor appointed vice-president of EPP

San Lawrenz mayor Noel Formosa has been appointed vice-president of the European People's Party in the Committee of the Regions during an extraordinary meeting in Brussels earlier this month.

The EPP group is a major political pillar in the Committee of the Regions, making it the driving force for strengthening and increasing the role and influence of local and regional authorities in the EU decision-making process.

Mr Formosa, a representative of Local Councils Association Malta, has been a member of the Committee of the Regions since 2003; in the first year he served as an observer and in the second as a titular member.
