A competition of drawings and paintings of children's favourite fairytales is being organised by Continuing Professional Development and Training - Malta (CPDM) to coincide with the CPDM seminar on "Interpretation of fairytales" to take place on April 1 and 2.
The aim of this competition is to bring youngsters in touch with the depth and meaning behind stories. This activity would offer children the opportunity to discuss art, literature, philosophy and psychology through a fun medium.
The competition will run until March 24, and is open to all secondary school children in Form 1 to Form 3 in government, Church and independent schools.
Each drawing or painting must be submitted through the school, accompanied by a signed letter from the head.
All entries must be properly mounted, with the child's name, age, title of fairytale and name of school at the bottom centre of the cardboard mount, and should be A3 size. Any art medium can be used.
The paintings will be judged by a local artist. Book prizes from Books Plus, of Bisazza Street, Sliema, will be awarded to first and second place winners.
Entries should be sent by registered mail or hand delivered to Ms Christiane Sullivan at 33, Main Street, Gharghur, NXR 07, or Mr Laner Cassar, Casa Violetta, M. Busuttil Street, Victoria, VCT 108, Gozo.
