There were 3,402 traffic accidents in the fourth quarter of last year, a drop of 515 over the same quarter in the previous year, the National Statistics Office said.

In Gozo and Comino the number of accidents declined by 12 to 152 from 164.

A total of 131 drivers sustained injuries. Of these, 104 suffered slight injuries while there were two fatalities.

During the same period, 36 pedestrians and 65 passengers were injured. Five passengers were killed.
