On March 11, Msida will once again make that crucial journey to the ballot boxes to elect a new local council. As on similar occasions, the Malta Labour Party is once again fielding a strong team to the electorate.

As a united team we promise to make a significant difference in Msida and deliver a breath of fresh air to the town. However, for change to occur we, the MLP candidates, need to be the majority on the local council. For the past nine years the council has had a Nationalist majority which, having promised the world, has inevitably failed to deliver. An obvious example would be the promised renovation of Conception Street which, after their nine-year term, failed even to commence. This is not to mention the worrying number of other streets which have been left to deteriorate such as Triq Sant'Andrija, Triq Giorgio Mitrovich, Upper Rue D'Argens and Bordin Street.

During the course of our door-to-door campaign, the residents of Msida are being presented with our electoral manifesto. The plan is bold, ambitious yet manageable. We ask the residents of Msida to back the Labour candidates as a team and give us the chance to govern and prove just how adamant we are to bring about the kind of changes Msida so clearly needs.

The Nationalist majority has had nine years to fulfil their plans which, term after term, have never been carried out to the full. Given the opportunity to govern we promise to work for the people of Msida, heart and soul, for the whole three years, not (like the previous administration) just the last three months prior to the local election. All we require is three years and, then, if we fail to deliver, the electorate can remove us.

The time has come for Msida to see a change in the way the local council functions. A Labour majority will ensure that Msida is overseen by a team that aims to work closely with the residents on all fronts, acting upon their complaints, requests and suggestions whenever possible. We promise to give all residents of Msida, irrespective of their political convictions, the time and dedication they deserve. Our foremost priority is to bring about a new beginning to our most valued town with the help of the many dedicated residents who truly have the welfare of Msida at heart.

Therefore, we urge all residents of Msida, so that on March 11 they will elect a new Labour majority to the local council so that we can work together, council and residents, for the necessary change to happen and for a better Msida.
