A 30-year-old man was yesterday charged with trying to kill a man when he punched him during an argument that broke out after a traffic collision.

Ivan Bajada, of Swatar, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Anthony Spiteri and seriously injuring him in Gzira on Sunday.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano heard Police Inspector Daniel Zammit explain how Mr Spiteri had ended up in intensive care after Mr Bajada punched him.

Lawyers Ian Farrugia and Michael Sciriha, for Mr Bajada, argued that this was a case where a punch had serious consequences.

Mr Bajada was granted bail on condition he does not leave his home without court permission. He was also bound by a Lm800 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.
