A 33-year-old man will be spending the next seven years and eight months in jail after he admitted to breaking into two cars during the operative time of various suspended jail terms.
Magistrate Saviour Demicoli heard Reginald Bugeja, of Rabat, plead guilty to breaking into two cars, stealing items from inside them and damaging them in June last year.
He also admitted to relapsing and committing the theft during the operative time of suspended jail terms previously handed down by the courts.
On handing down judgement the magistrate noted that the courts had give Mr Bugeja several chances to change his ways but he chose not to.
The magistrate jailed him for three years and ordered that the suspended jail terms be put into effect, bringing his total jail time to seven years and eight months.
Police Inspector Jeffery Cilia prosecuted.
