Maltacom has introduced a new service that gives customers a convenient way to complete calls that are unanswered.

The Ring Back On No Reply Service is an extension of the Ring Back service which already applies to busy numbers. It is available to Maltacom customers free of charge.

The company said the only charge that the person using the service is expected to pay is for the call itself - at existing local fixed telephone rates - only if and when the call is ultimately completed.

Maltacom explained how the service operates: When a customer calls from and to a normal local fixed (21) telephone line and gets no answer, R5 is pressed before putting down the handset. A continuous tone will then confirm that the service has been activated.

The system monitors the unanswered telephone number for any activity, such as other calls received or made, for the next two hours.

If any activity is detected, the system calls back with a different ringing tone to notify the caller that the unanswered telephone number may now be attended to. As soon as the notification call is answered, the system automatically connects the person to that telephone number.
