Tottenham Hotspur wasted a chance to pull clear of neighbours Arsenal and West Ham in the race for the fourth Champions League place when they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Wigan Athletic yesterday.
Spurs now have 46 points from 27 Premier League matches, five ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal and West Ham who have a game in hand. Chelsea lead the way on 66 points followed by Manchester United on 54 and Liverpool on 51.
Swedish striker Andreas Johansson scored the first of his two Wigan goals when he converted a pass from Paul Scharner in the 10th minute.
Egyptian international Mido equalised 13 minutes later with a deft near post flick following a cross from Paul Stalteri.
Johansson restored the lead for the visitors after 67 minutes, ending a sweeping move by drilling the ball past Spurs keeper Paul Robinson.
But within a minute Jermain Defoe picked up a pass from Mido to fire Spurs level again.
Wigan, on 40 points, moved up one place to eighth.
