Underground flour mill at Mistra
Can Some One tell me what is going to happen to the underground flour mill at Mistra? Are we going to lose it forever? Has this mill been scheduled by MEPA? This mill is the last one which is fully functional. I had seen it working about 18 months ago.

This mill is the last one which is fully functional. I had seen it working about 18 months ago. Has this mill been abandoned? From the main road leading to Mellieha one can see the electric supply wire disconnected from the electric service pole. So there isn't any electric supply in the mill, unless there is a supply from the Mistra Village complex, although during the night the complex is in darkness.
For the second time, I want to note that on MEPA's map server one can clearly see that this mill and the grounds nearby are in the scheme line and belong to whoever is concerned with the Mistra Village complex.
A site plan of Mistra Village was given to those who attended the auction in the last few days and on this map one can see the original Mistra Village plans. The government surely did not build this mill on private property in the 1950s. Are workers from the Lands Department bothered about government property?
Moreover when the project is finished, it will be too late to take action and the land will probably be sold for a quarter of the price, as has already happened in the past.
This mill is about 120 metres underground from the main road and the last silo is close to the apartments of the Mistra Village complex, which face Selmun Palace. One of the other silos is beneath one of the complex's roads. Although the silo's ceiling was removed and rebuilt with planks and asphalt in the early Eighties, many people do not know that there is another silo beneath the road.
Also, the 1937 Ghajn Tuffieha barracks have been left idle for the last two years and they were all occupied, including the chapel. In the evening, one can see lights in these barracks. Are the electric meters still there? There is no sound of generators.
At the entrance to some quarters, dogs can be heard barking. Some people say that their ID cards bear that address. Sometimes some trucks are parked there, bearing a 'Quality Chicken' advert.
If these people are asked to vacate the barracks they will say that they have problems: Where are they going to put the animals? What are they going to do with their ID cards? These problems arouse with the Mtarfa barracks.
There was a very old booster room near the cliffs. This engine room had two old engines that used to pump water. What happened to this machinery? Where are these vintage stationary pumps? These cost quite a lot of money. The engines aren't there and they have not been thrown down the cliffs because we went down looking for them! Whoever removed these booster pumps has eliminated part of our industrial heritage.
Incidentally, wardens can venture into the barracks to issue tickets because it is not private property and there are cars without registration.
