A COURSE on "Fire fighting and awareness" spread over two sessions will be held on Thursday and Friday, between 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. The eight-hour course, organised by the Institute for Health and Safety, will include topics like fire risks and fire prevention in the workplace, why and how fires occur, the chemistry of fire and types of fire, and action to be taken in the event of a fire.
A fire can start and spread almost anywhere. It is therefore imperative that the conditions which increase the risk of initiating a fire are well known and understood.
The institute is also organising a scaffolding course on Monday, March 6, Thursday, March 9, Monday, March 13, and Friday, March 17, between 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.
The course will cover basic theory on scaffolding, basic components of a system scaffold, setting out the base and preparation, among other topics.
The course fee is Lm53.10, including VAT per participant.
