As a fellow wine writer I share the concern expressed by Jancis Robinson in her letter (February 2) on the proposed six-storey-high, 500-feet-long tent structure development at Ta' Qali.
As a visitor to Malta since 1969 I have seen a vast improvement in the quality of Maltese wine. I'm shocked that this inappropriately sited development is considered suitable close to Meridiana Wine Estate, Malta's best known individual vineyard and winery.
I trust that an alternative site can be found for this development and that Meridiana will be allowed to continue to make fine wine inhibited by man-made shade.
