\nA hard-fought match both teams had been awaiting with eagerness to finally separate them at the top of the table.
The result went in favour of La Salle Nexos who only managed to secure the three points in the final minutes.
The start of the game was marked by a somewhat lax attitude from Aloysians ProMinent who fell four goals behind inside the first 10 minutes.
Slowly but steadily, the Reds improved and Philip Mifsud and Milos Stanisavljevic notched the goals to equalise in the dying minutes of the first half. La Salle appeared to suffer a serious blow when promising pivot Mark Gilson got sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Andrew Said stepped up to make all the difference in the opening minutes of the second half, scoring four goals to keep La Salle afloat. The scoreline after 15 minutes was 14-13 for La Salle.
After moving ahead on the 20th minute, Aloysians succumbed to a physically fitter La Salle side who managed to score six goals without reply. La Salle now lead the pack with a maximum of nine points from three matches.
D6 Active Bodies 18
Kavallieri 20
Depleted Kavallieri Kia Motors struggled to gain their first three points of the season at the expense of D6 Active Bodies.
What looked to be a balanced match in the opening minutes developed into a one-sided affair as D6 took the upperhand with efficient counter attacks to go 13-9 ahead.
Few expected Kavallieri to make a winning comeback, especially after they fell further behind in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Fighting for every ball and with goalkeeper Keith Bartolo in better form than in the first half, Kavallieri turned the tide as D6 Active Bodies threw away their five-goal cushion and the Blacks obtained their first points this season.
