Guilty of rape (1)

In view of the media reports on the recent conviction of a bus driver in connection with the rape of a minor, the Malta Transport Authority wishes to clarify that the tag of the bus driver in question had been revoked in April 2004 prior to the commencement of court proceedings against the individual.

To this end, at the time of his hearing, the individual was no longer a public transport official.

It is standard practice for the Malta Transport Authority to revoke the tags of public transport personnel pending internal/external investigations and proceedings.
