The main speeches delivered by Archbishop Joseph Mercieca last year have been published in the book series Minn Fomm ir-Raghaj (The Shepherd's Voice).
The 35 homilies in the book include messages on the moral need to protect and respect the dignity and integrity of human life from its very beginning. Other speeches include those delivered during the Mass for the repose of the soul of Pope John Paul II; the Mass on the eve of the opening of the Conclaves for the election of the new Pope, and the Thanksgiving Mass after the election of Pope Benedict XVI.
Other subjects Mgr Mercieca dealt with include the Eucharist, the Catholic Action Movement, the Movement for Charismatic Renewal, the church of Maltese migrants in Canada, racism, homosexuality and the internet.
The book includes 16 photos, mainly related to the concluding celebration of the National Eucharistic Congress, held in Floriana last June.
The publication can be obtained by mail for the price of Lm1 from the PRO's office, Archbishop's Curia, POB 29, CMR 01, Valletta.
