Corinthia San Gorg Hotel executive head chef Joe Xuereb, executive pastry chef Dominic Cilia and executive sous chef Kevin Arpa have won the Tony Theuma Team Challenge Trophy, the most prestigious award at this year's Malta Kulinarja 2006 recently organised by the Malta Cookery and Food Association.

The San Gorg team of chefs also included Keith Cassar, Sandra Spiteri, Nicholas Portelli, Jonathan Brincat and Andrea Ventorino. They won a total of eight gold, five silver and five bronze medals as well as three certificates of merit. Other awards included the Overall Best In Larder category and the Best Senior Fish Dish.

The event, previously called the Salon Internationale de Malta, was judged by an international panel of culinary experts. It showcases the skills and capabilities of Maltese and Gozitan chefs and cooks.
