Lm1,500 were raised during the recent Served By The Stars event organised by Keith & Co Creations at the Valletta Waterfront in collaboration with Heat and Viset Malta.
Hundreds of people were there until the early hours of the morning as TV celebrities and politicians gave a hand at Heat in the uncustomary roles of barmen and waiters to help the Kilimanjaro Challenge Project.
That challenge is to reach the Lm38,000 target needed to build a convent and a medical centre in the Ethiopian village of Bulbula. This event took the total amount collected to almost Lm32,000.
"The event could not have had a better turnout," said co-organiser Eman Pulis.
"It is also very satisfying to know that these celebrities, including Ira Losco, Ray Calleja, Andrea and Gianni, were willing to help out. On behalf of the Kilimanjaro Challenge team, we thank the Viset staff for the hard work they have put into the success of this event."
