A total of 803 thefts were reported to the police last month, Home Minister Tonio Borg told Gavin Gulia (MLP) in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday. The thefts included 224 thefts from cars, 94 car burglaries, 62 car thefts, 48 thefts from shops, 31 thefts from bars and hotels, 37 cases of pick-pocketing and nine hold-ups.
In other crime statistics, the minister said that last month there were five arson cases, 77 cases of bodily harm, 13 cases of forgery, 14 cases of fraud, 19 cases of illegal immigration, seven sexual offences and 11 cases of violence against public officers.
