Internationally acclaimed mezzo soprano Sophia Grech will be performing with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, in Valletta on Saturday at 7.30 p.m.
The orchestral concert is part of the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of Union Haddiema Maghqudin.
The programme will also feature 11-year-old prodigy violinist Masha Diatchenko, who plays a Guarnieri Pietro Venziano dated 1740 which belonged to Vivaldi.
Born in England of Maltese origin, Ms Grech won the Classic West Music Competition in London in 1997 and was nominated for the Daily Express Young Achievers Award in 2000.
She regularly gives master classes in singing at conservatories and music academies in Europe, Canada and the US.
Her recordings include The Masters Of Song, released on compact disc in Spain in 1998, and Mal-Kant Tal-Bahar, composed by Charles Camilleri with lyrics by Joe Friggieri, a CD released in Malta in 2004. She will begin recording for Sony this year.
The Sofia Philharmonic, the national symphony orchestra of Bulgaria, will be conducted by Alan Chircop.
