It was an active weekend at Badger Karting, Ta' Qali. The biannual Tag Team Open was held on February 3. Six teams composed of four drivers took part in the one-hour endurance, where pits stops are held for a change of drivers.
The participating teams were Evolution, Rubi & Friends, Hill Climbers, Gozo Karters, L&A Garage and BoV.
This race was a classic edge-of-your-seat thriller, with great driving, shrewd team strategies and fast pit stops.
Team Evolution, made up of Sandro Bugeja, Justin Agius, Jonathan Tonna and Alan Curmi took the honours with a fine display. Rubi & Friends were a strong second and Hill Climbers, composed of the Zammit family came in third.
National Four-stroke Karting league
Last Sunday the seventh race in the National Four-stroke Karting league was also held at Badger Karting. In the first race of the evening most of the front runners in the overall standings were pitted against each other, so points dropped would be picked up by direct competitors.
Zack Zammit kept his nerve and consolidated his top placing with another fine showing. Justin Agius ran away with second place and Andrea Frendo, the only female racer, finished a strong third.
The second race on the programme saw young Matthew Ciappara take his first win of the season and climbed to third in the overall standings. Alan Curmi pushed Ciappara all the way but had to settle for second and Etienne Barbara came third.
Fastest lap of the evening went to Zack Zammit with 36.21 seconds.
