The New Year saw the start of the second term with yet more activities as part of the EU-funded Comenius School project entitled "Teamwork, solidarity, tolerance and fair play through physical activities" at Mater Boni Consilii St Joseph School, Paola.
The pupils, with the help of their teachers are enthusiastic about trying out the various games during the week dedicated to the respective partner schools.
Last May, the Maltese pupils researched and played traditional playground games which later were compiled in a booklet and DVD. This material was then exchanged with the partner schools from Florence and Reggiolo in Italy, Belgium, Wales and Ireland, at the project meeting held in Dublin last October.
Two teachers - Mariuccia Fenech and Ruth Mansueto - returned buzzing with ideas, information and enthusiasm from the three-day visit in Dublin, eager to share their experiences with their pupils and colleagues.
The next objective is to forge the friendships made in Ireland and extend them among the pupils. Italian pupils have already started sending in letters.
May will be the culmination of activities for this year's Comenius project, when it will be the turn of the Maltese pupils to host the project meeting for an evaluation of the work carried out and goals reached.
