The overall visible trade gap for last year widened by Lm91.1 million to Lm502.7 million from Lm411.6 million reported in 2004, the National Statistics Office said.

The value of imports from the European Union amounted to Lm941.3 million, making up 72.1 per cent of total imports recorded. The main trading EU partners were Italy, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.

Total dispatches to the European Union amounted to Lm409.6 million, representing 51.1 per cent of total exports.
