An 18-year-old foreigner was yesterday charged with raping a Maltese 16-year-old girl and holding her against her will over the weekend.

The man, whose name and nationality are not being published by court order, was arraigned last night. He pleaded not guilty to raping and defiling the minor girl in a Burmarrad apartment between last Saturday and Sunday.

Magistrate Joseph Cassar remanded the accused in custody.

Police Inspector Raymond Aquilina prosecuted.
