I have a feeling that most of those in England who are aware of this historic injustice would have no qualms in providing a long due apology to the victims who are still around and/or to their families.
What right has Victor Spiteri to call Maltese sympathisers of Italy fascists when he knows that most Italians themselves were forced to accept fascism as a way of life, against their better judgement, under the yoke of Mussolini and his merry men? Would it be right to call Mr Spiteri a British lackey because he is a supporter of all that is British. His claim of "obvious hate of those who saved us from the nazi and fascist jackboots" is indeed rich.
"Those" are obviously the British. Apart from the fact that the Nationalist Party has tens of thousands of supporters who are sympathisers of the British, Mr Spiteri knows that war on Nazi Germany had been declared by Britain and France and not by Malta. Malta had no say in the matter at all. If anything, the British saved themselves (partly through Malta) from the nazi/fascist jackboots, as he calls them.
