The Geography Division at the Mediterranean Institute, ,with the support of the University Geographical Society, is organising a seminar on Physical Geography as part of the ongoing series of lectures presented by foreign tutors for this academic year. This whole-day seminar will be held on Wednesday at the University's Conference Hall.

The seminar was made possible through the Socrates/Erasmus mobility programme where students and staff exchange between the two universities occurs regularly. In this context the first lecture consists of a very short introduction to Portsmouth and its university, with particular emphasis on its Geography Department.

Morning sessions in Physical Geography deal with modelling, experimental and hardware approaches together with selected case studies. The afternoon sessions examine the Philosophy of Physical Geography and the Theory and Practice of Shoreline Management in the UK.

The seminar should be of interest to students reading Geography both as main and subsidiary areas in the Faculty of Arts, together with students from the Faculties of Architecture, Engineering, Science, and a number of Institutes.

Those interested should e-mail: john.a.schembri@ um.edu.mt or annelise.vassallo@um.edu.mt by tomorrow.
