A 52-year-old man from Marsacala was yesterday charged with usury.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman heard Alfred Mallia plead not guilty to lending a man over Lm1,500 at high interest rates on and before June 2004.

Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted.

Lawyer Robert Abela appeared for Mr Mallia.
