On January 27 at 9.05 a.m., I watched a warden taking details of a car parked on a double line.

The ticket was printed and when it was being placed on the windscreen of the car, the owner and passengers returned. One of them said to the warden that he is from the locality's local council.

The warden smiled at him and tore up the ticket. He seemed to have cancelled the details from his handset.

I asked the warden why he cancelled the ticket since a contravention had been committed. The warden replied: "Ghax xorta wahda johrogli minnha!" (because he'd get out of it). I answered back that the ticket should have been issued just the same and the driver of the car should contest it at the tribunal, as I had to do when I was issued with a ticket when I stopped my vehicle on the same spot to load a box from my shop just six metres across the street.

Are wardens authorised to exempt certain people from respecting the law?
