The Maltese Association of Social Workers (MASW) said the presentation of warrants to over 150 social workers represented an official recognition of over 50 years of challenging and at times unacknowledged service to individuals, families, children and communities.
It was also an acknowledgement of the social work of academics at the university who provided its students with quality training for the past two decades.
Family and Social Solidarity Minister Dolores Cristina presented the warrants.
The MASW said that one of the association's main objectives was to achieve the acknowledgment of the professional status of social work.
