International passenger movements last year remained at the same levels as 2004, according to the Malta International Airport's Annual Statistical Review.

The review, which was launched yesterday, contains information on aviation trends and operations at MIA during last year. The market analysis finds that the main reason for stagnant passenger movements is the decline in the number of Maltese travellers during the peak months in the latter half of 2005.

On the other hand, it transpires from the review that "the momentum in attracting new traffic and additional routes is clearly maintained, compensating for the drop in Maltese travellers".
