The Gozo ferry service came to a stop yesterday afternoon after the police in Victoria got an anonymous telephone call that there was a bomb aboard the ferries.

The police contacted the army's bomb disposal unit whose members went to Cirkewwa to screen the mv Malita that was berthed there.

The Gozo Channel personnel evacuated the passengers from the Malita and from the mv Ta' Pinu which was berthed at Mgarr. Both vessels were checked for any suspect objects and none was found.

The service resumed after about three hours.
