Sleeping Lady for the euro

Many years before my time, the unique Sleeping Lady found at the Tarxien Hypogeum was synonymous with the archaeology of the Maltese islands. As regards its value and history, I leave that to experts on the subject.

I am writing because during my years as a press photographer and later in the Ministry for Tourism advertising Malta through photography, pictures of the unique Sleeping Lady were always requested.

With foreign and local students in archaeology and many travel agents, pictures of the Sleeping Lady were always on demand. They were used in books and brochures to advertise the Maltese islands. To make my point, I don't know why the unique Sleeping Lady, known world wide through so many publications by so many, should be left out and not represent the Maltese islands on the euro currency.

I am sure that a close-up picture of the Sleeping Lady against a background of the Holy of Holies in the Hypogeum would give a through picture of our ancient history.
