Stam: Milan's Jaap Stam will return to the Netherlands in July after agreeing a two-year contract with Ajax Amsterdam. Ajax also agreed an undisclosed transfer fee for the 33-year-old central defender, who won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League with Man. United in 1999.
Bolton: Midfielder Ivan Campo, 31, could miss the rest of the season after breaking a foot for the second time in this league campaign. Campo sustained the injury after a challenge from Arsenal's Robin van Persie in Bolton's 1-0 FA Cup fourth-round win on Saturday. Bolton manager Sam Allardyce said he would have to dip into the transfer market to replace the former Real Madrid midfielder.
No money... no play: Congo will not play their African Cup quarter-final against Egypt if bonuses are not paid in time, coach Claude Leroy said. Congo nearly boycotted their opening Group B game against Togo over unpaid bonuses for reaching these finals. A fresh row has now broken over cash for reaching the last eight against the host nation on Friday. "If they are not paid, they will not play the quarter-final," LeRoy said. " There will be no quarter-final, not even if you applied all the pressure in the world on them."
Deportivo: Deportivo La Coruna are taking legal action to have the remainder of their King's Cup tie with Valencia postponed until their appeal against the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is heard. Last Wednesday's quarter-final second leg was abandoned just before the break when a linesman was hit on the head by an object thrown from the crowd moments after Valencia had scored to level the tie 1-1 on aggregate. The RFEF ruled that the remaining 46 minutes of the match should be played behind closed doors at Valencia's Mestalla stadium tomorrow.
Neville: Man. United captain Gary Neville has denied an FA charge of improper conduct. The charge relates to Neville's celebration of United's last-minute winning goal near a section of away supporters in their game against Liverpool at Old Trafford on January 22. Neville, 30, has requested a personal hearing which will be scheduled at a later date. United manager Alex Ferguson has argued that the charge would not have been brought against Neville had the England international played for another club.
Chelsea: Premier League champions Chelsea intend to spend less on transfers and more on home-grown players in future. Chief executive Peter Kenyon said the club's Russian owner Roman Abramovich was not concerned at a record loss of £140 million announced last week. "What matters is that there is a point in time where Chelsea are self-sufficient," he said. "One of the key aspects of our future business is to spend less on transfers and grow more of our home-grown talent." Abramovich has invested about £440 million in Chelsea, mostly buying in players, since taking over in July 2003.
Dublin: Celtic have signed former England international Dion Dublin from Leicester until the end of the season. Dublin, who had a brief spell at Manchester United before playing for Coventry and Aston Villa, could make his debut in Celtic's League Cup semi-final against Motherwell tomorrow.
Hearts: Genk's Mirsad Beslija will complete his move to Scotland's Hearts today. Genk said the fee was £850,000 for the 26-year-old, a club record for Hearts. Beslija has been granted a work permit.
