Bridgestone will supply the new Super Aguri F1 team with tyres this year, the Japanese company said yesterday.

The tyre manufacturer said in a statement they had entered into a multi-year agreement with the Honda-powered team, whose place in the 2006 championship was confirmed last week.

The Japanese team, who have yet to name any drivers although Japan's Takuma Sato appears certain to be one of them, is expected to have its first test soon.

Aguri will be the fifth team using Bridgestone this year, along with Ferrari, Toyota, Williams and Midland.

The other six are with Michelin, the French manufacturer that dominated the 2005 season.
