Josephine Spencer's letter (Hitler's Plan, January 26) said it very well. Hitler would have not respected our neutrality. Hitler was only after power to rule the world and a dictator who hated the Jews and all those who opposed him.

I remember the time of the expected invasion of Malta when the beaches were being prepared with barbed wire and land mines.

Hitler could not be trusted so we prepared for the worst. A few years ago I discovered a plan my family had prepared should the invasion take place. My uncle would shoot me and one brother. His brother would shoot my other brothers and other uncles would shoot in sequence.

This would have been similar to "Massada" in Israel to escape the Romans. They knew what Hitler was like.

Britain and the Maltese were the protectors of Malta.
