For me Lino Spiteri's "Wide Angle" column already justifies the price of The Sunday Times. In matters of applied economics and finance, I am at one with him; in his political views there is a balance very difficult to match. That's why I find it irritating that the misplacement of a comma could unbalance the equilibrium.

"Notwithstanding the resources that were to be put at Gama's disposal, reportedly totalling €9 million in training grants, and loans guarantees up to 75 per cent by Malta Enterprise, the Austrian investors..." (The Sunday Times, January 22) conveys the impression that €9 million was to be in training grants, plus an unquantified amount (presumably larger) in guaranteed loans. The comma after 'grants' was probably meant to be placed after 'million'. Little things do sometimes mean a lot.
