Holocaust remembered

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi yesterday said that Holocaust Remembrance Day served as a reminder of the constant need to sustain the efforts to uphold the value of the dignity of every human being.

In a message to mark the day, Dr Gonzi said: "Today the international community recalls with deep sadness a tragedy of unparalleled proportion that has claimed the lives of millions. An expression of sincere sympathy goes to all those who have suffered in the Holocaust.

"It also provides us with the opportunity to restate the continued need for vigilance in order to prevent the repetition of human tragedies in the world today.

"May this day constitute a remembrance of human tragedies that should never happen again," Dr Gonzi said.
