Allardyce: Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce was charged with improper conduct by the FA yesterday over comments he made about referee Mike Riley. Allardyce criticised Riley for booking five Bolton players in their league game against Blackburn Rovers on January 14. BOBIC: Former German international forward Fredi Bobic has signed for Croatian side FC Rijeka. Bobic joins Rijeka after playing two seasons for Hertha Berlin. Bobic played for Stuttgart, B. Dortmund and Bolton.

Messina: Japan midfielder Mitsuo Ogasawara has turned down a move to Italian Serie A side Messina. Kashima's highly-rated playmaker now looks likely to start the new Japanese season at the Antlers with Europe's transfer window closing at the end of January.
