Awards for Cana members

Cana Movement founder Mgr Charles Vella on Wednesday presented Golden Jubilee mementoes to a number of recipients, including the movement's director Fr Louis Camilleri and Cana pioneers and counsellors.

Persons from the Cana Family Centre in Gozo and centres in Qormi, Rabat and Paola were also awarded.

Renowned psychiatrist and family expert Jack Dominian, who gave a talk on Wednesday on Understanding the Changes in Contemporary Marriage, was also presented with a memento as the guest of honour for the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Mgr Vella was last week himself the recipient of an award. Milan's Comune, the local mayor and council, conferred on him the City Medal of Honour for his work for families and the sick in the last 31 years.

Pope Benedict XVI has sent his blessing to the Cana Movement on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee, while the Italian Bishops Conference and the Pontifical Council for the Family of the Holy See have also sent messages of congratulation.
