The first cat show of the year will be held by the Malta Feline Guardians Club on March 5 at the Coastline Hotel, in Salina.

The club's last cat show attracted 70 felines who vied to win the judges' hearts and more than 900 people had visited to watch the furry creatures strut their stuff.

For the first time, the cat show will be under the auspices of the World Cat Federation of Germany and supported by Eukanuba, Green View and Micabliss Persians.

The show will consist of three categories: A - pure breed kittens (three to 10 months); B - pure breed adults (11 months and over) and C - domestic cats.

Prizes will be awarded to the first five voted cats in each category. A trophy will be awarded to the overall best cat voted within the three categories and to the best decorated cage.

Apart from the trophies other prizes will be awarded to the winners. The public who attend the show will also be able to participate in a lottery with a number of prizes.

Those interested in taking part with their cats can apply by filling in the application form which can be downloaded directly from the website www.maltafelineguardiansclub.com or get one from the club.

The closing date for the application forms is February 19. Those who apply will be invited to attend an informative meeting on the show.
