Bank of Valletta and the Manoel Theatre have signed a new sponsorship agreement which guarantees the organisation of the BOV Opera Festival for the next five years.

The new agreement is intended to consolidate the festival as one of the main events within the annual cultural calendar of the Manoel Theatre.

The agreement was signed by BOV chief executive officer Tonio Depasquale and the chairman of the theatre management committee Wilfred Kenely.

During the five-year term, two companies, Valletta Fund Management and Middlesea Valletta Life Assurance Company Ltd, will be lending their support towards the organisation of the festival.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Mr Depasquale reiterated BOV's commitment to be the leading patron of arts and culture in Malta.

"Through the bank's support, the Manoel Theatre has managed to create and develop the BOV Opera Festival. We are proud with the success that this festival has registered so far and look forward to another five years of opera festivals that will also continue to promote Malta's cultural richness even on an international level," he said.

Thanking the bank for its renewed support, Mr Kenely said the theatre was delighted at this renewed collaboration.

"We are proud to have Bank of Valletta as one of our main partners for the forthcoming five years. The agreement signed today is of particular significance as it will ensure that one of the main events within our annual calendar will continue to thrive," he said.

The seventh edition of the BOV Opera Festival will be launched on February 27.
