I just cannot understand why Victor Spiteri (January 23) is so disturbed with Richard Matrenza's contributions to RTK. Weren't there times when the Church radio station sought the services of contributors from the other side of the political divide?
As I am not an RTK listener, I cannot say how politically overt Mr Matrenza's commentaries are but surely Mr Spiteri would have rendered readers of The Times a better service had he commented on what was said in the commentary.
Having said this, I do share Mr Spiteri's concern regarding partisan journalism in this country. The reason for such an unhappy state of affairs is the fact that the profession is dominated by politicians or politically-involved people in the same manner as directorships in government entities are dominated by political buddies.
