A refugee was yesterday charged with slightly injuring another refugee with a knife at the Hal Far open centre on Sunday.

Daniel Haile Tesfamihret, 22, of Sudan pleaded not guilty to trying to seriously injure Yonus Tsege Solomon, slightly injuring him and the illegal possession of a knife.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi granted Mr Tesfamihret bail on the condition that he does not approach any of the prosecution's witnesses and bound him by a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.

Police Inspector Walter Spiteri prosecuted.

Mr Tesfamihret appeared unattended.
